13 UK varsities could go bust if Indian students stay away

British universities could lose anywhere between £1.4 billion (Rs 13,000 crore) and £4.3 billion (Rs 40,000 crore) in income from enrolment of Indian students because of the pandemic, potentially causing 13 of them to go bust if there is no bailout, a report published by the Institute for Fiscal Studies warns.

‘BlackLivesMatter’ protests in London descend into violence

About 20 unarmed police officers who were not dressed in riot gear were hit with glass bottles and other projectiles as ‘BlackLivesMatter’ protestors clashed with cops trying to guard the front gates of Downing Street as protests in London turned violent on Saturday. The protests were sparked by the death of George Floyd during a police arrest at Minneapolis in the United States on May 25.​

Indian-origin man dies of virus in UK

A British Indian Krishna devotee who regularly visited Bhaktivedanta Manor in Watford has become the sixth person in Britain to die from coronavirus. Manohar Krishna Prabhu, in his eighties, passed away at Watford General Hospital on Monday night. Manohar is the first Indian-origin person known to have died of the virus in Britain. His son is still being treated at the hospital.

'Sad' Prince Harry says he did not want to end royal role

Britain's Prince Harry spoke on Sunday of his unhappiness at being forced to give up his royal duties in a deal with Queen Elizabeth and senior Windsors. "Our hope was to continue serving the queen, the Commonwealth and my military associations without public funding. Sadly that wasn't possible," the prince, the sixth-in-line to the throne, said.
